How to Download and Install Microsoft Office 2016 for PC
Microsoft Office 2016 is a suite of productivity software that includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher and Access. It is one of the final releases of the traditional office suite of products created by Microsoft before it switched to cloud-based software with Microsoft Office 365. In this article, we will show you how to download and install Microsoft Office 2016 for PC using an offline installer.
Step 1: Download the offline installer from your account portal
To download the offline installer, go to www.office.com. If you're not already signed in with the Microsoft account associated with your copy of Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 do that now. From the top of the page, select Services and subscriptions and on that page find the Microsoft 365 product you want to install and select Install. To install Microsoft 365 in a different language, or to install the 64-bit version, select the link Other options. Choose the language and bit version you want, and then select Install. You will get an IMG file that contains the setup files for Microsoft Office 2016.
Step 2: Mount or burn the IMG file to a CD/USB drive
If you are using Windows 8 or Windows 10, you can easily mount the IMG file by right-clicking it and selecting Mount. This will create a virtual drive that contains the setup files for Microsoft Office 2016. If you are using Windows 7 or an older version of Windows, you will need to burn the IMG file to a CD or USB drive using a third-party software such as PowerISO or ISO Burner.
Step 3: Run the setup file and follow the instructions
Once you have mounted or burned the IMG file, open the virtual drive or CD/USB drive and double-click the setup.exe file. This will start the installation process of Microsoft Office 2016. Depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox). If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes. The install begins.
Your install is finished when you see the phrase, \"You're all set! Office is installed now\" and an animation plays to show you where to find Office applications on your computer. Select Close. Follow the instructions in the window to find your Microsoft 365 apps. For example depending on your version of Windows, select Start and then scroll to find the app you want to open such as Excel or Word, or type the name of the app in the search box.
Step 4: Activate Microsoft Office 2016
Start using an Microsoft 365 application right away by opening any app such as Word or Excel. In most cases, Microsoft 365 is activated once you start an application and after you agree to the License terms by selecting Accept. Office might activate automatically. However, depending on your product you might see the Microsoft Office Activation Wizard. If so, follow the prompts to activate Microsoft 365.
